Colonel Clay Taylor was born in May 1826 in Kentucky. He moved with his wife in 1856 to a six hundred acre ranch in Cambranch MO. During the Mexican War he served with Zachery Taylor in Buena Vista Mexco. Later during the Civil War he joined with the Confederate and is most noted for for writing ou the cartel in exhange of prisoners between the Yankees and Rebels. He died at the age of 76 in 1900.
