Kazimierz Pulaski of Slepowron often written in English as Casimir Pulaski was bornin in Winiary near Warka in Poland on March 4, 1745 He was killed in the Battle of Savannah on October 11, 1779. He ws from the Polish aristocracy, was a Polish soldier and politician and has been called "the father of American cavalry." In Poland he was the commander of the Bar Confederation which fought unsuccessfully against the Russian domination of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Pulaski then moved to America, where he became one of the notable commanders of the Revolutionary War.
