William A. Paxton,known as "The Grand Old Man of Omaha" was born in Kentucky in 1837, at the age of 12 he moved West with his family to Missouri. He was a rancher, cattleman, and early Omaha businessman. He is credited with Omaha's becoming a prominent stockyards and meatpacking center.
