ELIZABETH FRY

Elizabeth Gurney Fry was born in Gurney Court,Norwich, Norfolk, England as a Quaker on May 21, 1780 and died on October 12, 1845. She was a prison reformer, social reformer and philanthropist. She was the driving force and was supported by Queen Victoria in legislation to make the treatment of prisoners more humane.
