George R. Newell born in Essex County New York on July 31, 1945 and died on November 15, 1922. He moved to Minneapolis in 1866 and took a job as a clerk in a hotel. He remained there shortly and them starting working as a merchant eventually starting large grocery chain the in the Minneapolis area.
